InSonora, Mexico , garlic is one of  the  most  important vegetable crop, and evaluation of new varieties in combination with fertilizer is considered  an important information for growers. During 2007, three lines of the garlic variety Taiwan : Line “E”, Line “G” y Line “S” with three fertilizer rates: Rate O: Control,  Rate  1: 50-0-50+50 Ca, Rate 2:  100-0-100+100 Ca y Rate 3: 200-0-200+200 Ca. The best line was “G” with rate 1 and 2, average production of 29.98 y 29.83 tonha-1  hectare  respectively. This line using rate 1, got the best bulb diameter with 6.3 cms. The highest   yield in line “E” was   using  the rate 3, with 27.44 tonha-1.  Bulb  diameter with rates 1, 2 and 3 with 6.24, 6.23 and 6.10 cms.
Line “S” yield the lowest production and there was not significative differences, with 26.14, 25.81 and 25.75 tonha-1 in combination with rates 3, 2 and 1 respectively. Bulb diameters in this line were 6.37, 6.35 and 6.33 using rates 2, 3 and 1 respectively. Control got the lowest bulb diameter with 5.59 cms. Garlic yields in this study shown that with a population of 400,000 thousands plants per hectare and with a proper fertilization, it is possible to get good yield and quality of garlic inSonora, Mexico .
