Update on Recycling of Used Agricultural Plastics
Thursday, August 2, 2012: 5:15 PM
Sandringham
Because of high soil and organic matter contamination, used agricultural plastics are notoriously hard to recycle. Several successful attempts have been made in the past 2–3 years, and examples of these will be presented and discussed. These include a full recycling process in California that includes washing systems, shipment to overseas recyclers, and incineration to provide energy for cement-making operations in Florida and Guatemala. A brief presentation will be followed by discussion.Because of high soil and organic matter contamination, used agricultural plastics are notoriously hard to recycle.
