Assessing trees for risk is an important component of managing trees in any public space. The American National Standards Institute A300 committee and the International Society of Arboriculture have developed new a standard and methodology for assessing tree risk. The methodology involves assessing the likelihood of tree failure, the likelihood of impact and the consequences of impact to determine risk. This presentation will outline the Standard and how to achieve the standard through the use of best management practices. Attendees should have a basic understanding of this system and its implementation at the completion of the talk.
