The purpose of this workshop is to explore topics in citrus history that are of great interest and importance but have not been adequately covered in the existing historical and horticultural literature. It offers new historical studies of satsuma cultivation on the Unites States Gulf Coast, grapefruit cultivation in the Indian River district of Florida, and blood orange cultivation in the Mediterranean basin and around the world. It also provides a review of recent developments in citrus archeobotany in the Mediterranean region, and a synthesis of the long and fascinating history of the citron.
