Maintaining Healthy Landscapes Under Drought and/or Permanent Water Restrictions
Maintaining Healthy Landscapes Under Drought and/or Permanent Water Restrictions
Objective(s):
Many states have enacted legislative action and/or executive orders than permanently reduce allocated water for landscape irrigation in and out of drought. In California, a maximum allowable water application of 45% of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was enacted for newly installed moderate to large size landscapes. Water suppliers in many other states have been mandated to permanently reduce potable water supplies to residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional properties on a permanent basis, as well as banking a minimum of a 3-year water supply. The proposed workshop will provide a forum for researchers/educators from five universities to present updates on topics related to maintaining healthy landscapes under drought and/or water restrictions and allow for an exchange of information relevant to a large group of stakehlders across the nation during a panel discussion following the presentations.
