Success in SCRI

Provide an opportunity for SCRI awardees to share the progress of their research projects; Potential new applicants to SCRI to get some helpful ideas and strategies for success; Share discussion about the review process for SCRI and feedback about the program
Success in SCRI (Specialty Crop Research Initiative) – open to all conference attendees

The Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI), administered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), is hosting a project director workshop. The workshop will include six full presentations, and if time allows, a series of micro talks (4 min max) on integrated research and extension projects funded through SCRI followed by a discussion period. Topics covered in full talks will include development of disease-resistant walnut rootstocks, use of psyllids as biological control agents for HLB in citrus, reduction, remediation, and recycling of water in agricultural systems, genetic development in pecans, and disease management in watermelon. Discussion will also include some coverage of strategies for success with the competitive process and for effective management of a funded project.
