Trees, Gardens and Food Security – International Connections and Local Impact
Thursday, August 2, 2018: 12:00 PM
Van Ness (Level 1) (Washington Hilton)
Dr. Chapotin will share her experiences doing field work in Madagascar in the rapidly disappearing tropical dry forest environment, and then her transition from research to working in science policy and development. Her career maintained an international focus as she led agricultural research programs at USAID and subsequently helped lead the U.S. Government’s global hunger and food security initiative, Feed the Future. She will share insights gained during her time at USAID and more recently as the Executive Director of the U.S. Botanic Garden, where she continues to engage at the intersection of agriculture and plant science.
