Let’s be honest. March Madness often distracts students mid-semester. So, instead of ignoring it, why not incorporate it?! Based off the industry model, Shrub Madness, we launched Plant Madness in our Landscape Plants II course. The students have similar experiences as the ‘Big Dance’, such as filling out brackets, “Selection Sunday”, and then competing. The objective of the activity is to introduce specific cultivars (new and underused), along with providing another opportunity for them to develop and enhance their public speaking skills, in addition, a chance to be creative and competitive.
