Horticultural Science (PLNT 2025), our introductory, 3-credit-hour horticulture course, has been taught online every fall since about 2002. In order to incorporate some hands-on work into the on-line class the Home Labs system was devised. Home Labs are short laboratory-type projects students can do in their homes or communities. There are 10 possible and students are required to pick any three to accomplish during the semester. I will [very] briefly discuss the 10 possible Home Labs and what their basic requirements are along with the grading rubric. Students can present their findings either in a written lab report, a powerpoint presentation, or even a video.
